Jenny Morris Slayton joined the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in 1999 as a staff nurse in the Pediatric Emergency Department and later served as a Charge Nurse. In 2005 she joined the Performance Management and Improvement team in the Children’s Hospital as a Quality Consultant for Patient Safety primarily focusing on enhancement of overall patient safety. She later transitioned to serving as the Administrative Director of the PM&I Department and partnered with Children’s Hospital leadership to drive improvements in quality and patient safety. In 2013, Jenny was elevated to Vice President for Quality Safety and Risk Prevention for the Vanderbilt Health System. Her work continues to focus on directing the Quality and Patient Safety Programs in collaboration with senior leadership across the health system to ensure initiatives are focused on improved patient care, aligned with organizational goals and the development of strategic quality and safety objectives. On a National level, Jenny has served and serves on several collaboratives and advisory panels focused on quality and patient safety. Jenny holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Science in Nursing Degree from Vanderbilt University. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Vanderbilt University.
