Dr. Krishnaj Gourab

MD, VP, Medical Affairs & Chief Medical Officer, University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute

Krishnaj Gourab is the Chief Medical Officer, Vice President of Medical Affairs at the University of Medical Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute. He believes that innovations promoting the flow of information between clinical data systems, clinicians and patients is the key in improving healthcare delivery. Krishnaj combines his role as CMO with his training in clinical informatics to fulfill this aim. Prior to joining the University of Maryland Medical System, Krishnaj was the Chair of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and the Director of PM&R consultation service at Johns Hopkins Hospital. At Johns Hopkins Medicine, he developed the Rehabilitation Healthcare Analytics & Prediction (ReHAP) software tool to track patients’ functional (mobility and activity) status and direct clinical resources appropriate for each patients. ReHAP was awarded the Thalheimer Grant for Translational Research and is being used in the clinical setting at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Krishnaj is subspecialty board certified in Clinical Informatics and board certified in PM&R. He is a graduate of the Analytics Leadership Program in Patient Safety and the Hexcite program at Johns Hopkins Medicine-Technology Innovation Center. His research has been published in peer reviewed journals and has found mention in media outlets. He is currently appointed at the rank of Clinical Associate Professor at University of Maryland school of Medicine and adjunct faculty at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
